Affordable Winter Coats + Accessories

Sharing a BIG round up of winter coats + accessories today as promised! Considering a ton of peeps in the upper-midwest got snow yesterday, this is perfectly timed, haha! I’m doing a full try on of every coat onn Instagram stories, but thought it’d be good to share everything here as well. I’m covering coats + accessories for all climates. Everything from sherpa lined jackets to down coats.

Below the photos, I’ve rounded up a ton more accessories. Almost everything I’m sharing is under $100. And a ton are on sale this weekend! Those pieces over $100 are definitely investment pieces you’ll have for years – like the down coat I’ve had since college or a good pair of winter boots.

The Best Women’s Winter Coats & Accessories for 2018

Popular Style Blogger Lauren Meyer of The Lo Meyer Blog shares The Best Women's Winter Coats & Accessories for 2018

Hello Friends!

Today I’m sharing a much requested roundup of women’s winter coats & accessories! Similarly to my Nordstrom post from last week, I’ve paired this with an Instagram try-on session where I’ve tried on and reviewed each piece. I find it’s especially helpful to see coats on someone prior to purchasing, so I hope you find this helpful! This try-on is saved to my profile highlights under “Winter Gear,” and I’ve included photos of each item below. At the very bottom, you’ll also find a roundup of other similar items!

In terms of retailers, I often head to Colombia or North Face when I’m looking for a great quality down jacket. Otherwise, Loft, Old Navy, and Nordstrom have great dressy options! I do tend to size up one (to S) in most jackets to layer over sweaters and have included sizing details below each image. You can find the details for the outfit I’m wearing here.

I’ve sorted the items into down jackets, dress coats and accessories. I am waiting on two more down jackets so check back in a few days and those will be added! Most coats are under $150 too!

The Versatile Suede Jacket Styled 2 Ways

I’m not sure if I can put my love for this jacket into words. It’s one of those items I had wanted for quite a while but couldn’t justify paying full price for. But then, the shopping gods smiled down upon me and put it on major sale so it was time to take the plunge! Not gonna lie, sometimes I open the closet just to smell it. The suede is intoxicating. Is that weird? 🤔

Anyways, like I mentioned in my last post, a good neutral jacket should be a staple in every person’s closet. This jacket from Nordstrom is no different. Here’s my challenge to you – start thinking of your outerwear as more of an accessory v. a necessity. A jacket like this one can instantly change the look of any outfit or update an outfit you’ve had hanging in your closet for years. It also can elevate any casual outfit you have, making it instantly chicer. So, in my opinion, the versatility (and dare I say practicality) of this jacket makes it worth the money.

For this post, I decided to show you two ways you can style this particular piece. Does the grey sweater look familiar? It’s my outfit from Monday’s post, yet looks somehow dressier and more put together with this jacket overtop. See, I told you this sweater was perfect for layering 😜! The SUGARFIX necklace paired with the jacket transforms the outfit and gives it almost a western vibe that it didn’t have before.

My second outfit layers a simple black turtleneck like this one under the same jacket. Although I’m wearing the same boots and jeans, this second look is somehow drastically different than the other. It looks more street style-chic v. western casual. The second look would be perfect for a night out whereas the first is more day appropriate. (Side note – if you don’t have a simple turtleneck, it’s time to get one! It is absolutely a closet staple, and I wear mine under sweater dresses, jackets, cardigans and on its own. Not to mention, they’re very on trend for this year and typically reasonably priced.)

So, have I convinced you yet of how great of an accessory this jacket can be?

On to the gritty deets – this jacket is genuine suede and comes in 4-5 different colors depending on how it’s stocked. Having wanted this jacket for a few months, I knew I wasn’t going to buy it unless they had the right color in stock. I wanted this camel color (called “spice”) because it’s a neutral shade and can be worn in both cool and warm weather. I waited a few days until it as restocked and purchased! If you don’t see the exact size/color you desire, just wait a day or two, and it’s sure to be restocked (they literally fully restocked one color in the time I wrote this post)!

In terms of fit, it runs a little small. I sized up to a small, and it fits like a glove. It’s currently 40% off making it a little over $100. I understand this is a lot of money to most people (me included!). But, like I said earlier, think of this jacket as an investment and something that can be worn year over year with multiple different outfits. This makes it a more practical purchase rather than that $70 trendy sweater that will likely be out of style in two years.

What a week you guys! I have always had this opinion that for every few super productive days, you’re bound to have a very unproductive day. That’s life. The first few days this week I got sh*t DONE. Then I came down with a headache on Wednesday that turned into a pretty bad migraine yesterday. I took my own advice, slept and completely cut out screen time yesterday in an effort to make it go away. I woke up feeling much better today, thank God! I’m not sure why I had such a bad migraine this week. I have a feeling it was a combo of our weather swings (major pressure systems can cause migraines – weird, I know) coupled with the fact that my sleep schedule has been off. If you get migraines, I wrote a post a while back on ways to combat them. You can read it here.

Needless to say, I’m happy I’m feeling better and am looking forward to having a relaxing night and not overdoing it. If having chronic headaches has taught me anything, it’s that you have to roll with the punches and take everything day by day. Sometimes you may have a huge “to-do” list that doesn’t get done because you get sick. And that’s OK. You’re allowed to not feel good and to catch up on those super productive days.

Tomorrow, Kev and I are going to my nephew’s birthday party and then to Crashed Ice later at night. Have you heard of Crashed Ice? I hadn’t until we moved up here. It’s essentially a high-speed, downhill race course that people skate. Yes skate, not ski. It looks terrifying, and I can’t tell if I’m excited or scared to watch it live LOL.

One last thing, I’ve decided to put my “outfit details” at the end of the outfit discussion section v. beginning. This is so it’s easier to see a snapshot of what the post is about from my home page! You can also click on the product widgets to check out the outfit details!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! See you Monday!

XOXO

Feeling like I scored the jackpot with this coat 😏. For the last few years, I’ve been searching for a good quality peacoat that fits properly and is the right price. The one I’ve had since high school (no joke) is bulky and literally hangs on my body. I feel like the coat is wearing me v. me wearing the coat, if you know what I mean. So when I saw that this coat from Nordstrom was on sale for under $38, I knew it was time to purchase!

Like the layering sweater from my last post, a good peacoat should be a staple in any woman’s closet. Or any person’s for that matter. It’s a style that has stood the test of time and can be very versatile. I’ve already worn mine out on a date night with Kev and on an afternoon out exploring breweries around the city. It’s perfect to style with jeans and a tee but can also be worn over a dress like I did here. And, given how cold it’s been in the Cities recently, it’s safe to say this coat can withstand freezing temps! I know this coat will be in my closet for years to come.

This coat comes in a number of different colors and is STILL on sale for under $40. This means certain colors/sizes are going out of stock pretty quickly. So, if you see the size/color you want be sure to hop on it right away! But, don’t worry, if your desired color/size isn’t available, be sure to check back. I did wait a day or two for this exact camel color to get restocked before purchasing!

In terms of fit – I’m normally a SP in jackets and purchased a XS in this coat for the perfect fit. What’s great about this particular coat is that it can work for both petites and those of average height 😍 And, even though it is less expensive than some other similar styles, the quality is very good! It looks and feels like coats that cost 3-4 times as much.

Happy Wednesday everyone! I’ve finished up the site updates! If you head to the About page on my site, you’ll find there’s some new content there. Under that section, I’ve also included an important page dedicated to disclosing my involvement in affiliate marketing programs and how I designate sponsored posts. A question I get A LOT is if  I really like a product I review for sponsored content. The answer is and always will be yes! This blog, your trust and my integrity are everything to me. I’d rather not feature a product on my page than risk losing your trust! Plus, before becoming a blogger, I heavily relied on other bloggers’ reviews to dictate my purchases. I simply want to be able to provide this type of help to all of you in the future!

Second, I like to pretend I’m techy but in reality I have an amazing team of people that helps me behind the scenes. It’s come to my attention that clicking items in the “shop the post” widget below can sometimes just lead to Pinterest. How annoying (so sorry)!! This issue has now been fixed so you can click through directly to the product 👍

Lastly, I started a new page under the “shop” tab dedicated to the outfits I wear or show on my instagram stories. Be sure to head here if you’re looking for a round-up of my instagram story ‘fits!

Until Friday!

XOXO
