Instagram Roundup + Weekend Sales! Style Blogger Lauren Meyer shares an Instagram Roundup + Weekend Sales!

Officially dubbing January 2019 as “The Month of Migraine”. Only partially joking. In reality, this is the first migraine free week I’ve had in almost three weeks. Kind of crazy! But it feels good to be back to a new normal. I’ve had to drastically cut down on nighttime screen time and limit my caffeine intake. As someone who’s suffered with migraines for literally half her life, I should have guessed my love for coffee and working long hours would do me in eventually.😝

But, it’s a new month! I’m keeping up with the weekly Instagram roundups this month since I had such a positive response from you all when I started them last month. This month you can also expect to see Spring Break wear (t-minus 3 weeks until we fly south and escape this arctic mess), a round up of many ways to wear the Spanx leggings, and Spring transition outfits. I promise Spring is coming… eventually.

Over on Instagram, I’ve started a weekly beauty series that’ll run through most of March. I’m sharing a beauty tutorial every week, starting with my top knot tutorial this week. Everything will be saved to my highlights so you can view it in the future! I’ll also be sharing tutorials on how I straighten/dry shampoo my hair (a hot topic in DMs this week), my foundation/concealer process, bronzing/contouring, everyday shadow, easy beauty hacks & more! I’ve also rounded up/updated my beauty routines under the “beauty routines” tab on my blog’s top bar. You can now see my updated skincare/haircare routines and soon, my makeup routine!

Also on the ‘gram this week, I shared try ons for Valentine’s day as well as a huge Amazon haul. Both of these try on videos are saved to my highlights and every outfit is also uploaded on this page.

I’m sharing a roundup of this week’s outfits below! Before we begin, here were a few top sellers! This sweater that was part of my Amazon haul. And this Loft sweater that was a 2018 follower fave and now is on major sale!! And for another week, this pair of denim (currently on sale) were another top seller. If you haven’t picked these up, drop what you’re doing and check out now! They are SO flattering & come in regular, short & long. They are cropped so if you’re petite and want them full length, order regular!

All of this week’s outfits are rounded up below with links and sizing details below the photos!

All January I kept meaning to do a 2018 year in review post, and now it’s 2/8. lol! January was just not my month! But it happens. I’m ready to jump into the rest of my content for you this year so let’s just do a quick little recap because, honestly, 2018 was one of the best years! My business grew in a way I literally only dreamed of. Long nights and early mornings were all worth it to watch something take off that I’ve built from the ground up.

I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships I’ve made this year in the Minneapolis blogging community. They’ve helped me grow immensely. I’m also grateful for an understanding husband and family. It’s not easy telling your loved ones you’re leaving a corporate gig with benefits to go into the world of blogging full time. lol! I’m surprised Kevin didn’t just die from pure anxiety at some points early last year. But, my family’s support as well as Kevin’s has truly been unmatched. Which I think was evident by the amount of support I got for spending the majority of the Thanksgiving holiday with my nose in my phone finding Cyber Week deals and Kevin’s freezing his fingers off to get those winter blog shots!

And, I want to of course, thank all of you! I quite literally would not be where I am today without all of you. Please know that your reading this blog, your instagram likes/comments, your repinning my content on Pinterest, telling your girlfriends, grandmothers, aunts, daughters and sisters about me is what keeps this blog running. Without all of you, I wouldn’t be able to keep doing what I do!

And, if there’s anything I learned, it’s that working 24/7 isn’t always the best thing for my followers, my creativity, my health or my sanity. Sure, that sounds logical. But when you’re a one-woman show and you love what you do, it’s easy to over-work and not even realize it. After this past month of migraines, I’ve learned some important parameters to be the best functioning blogger I can be 100% of the time while still maintaining a healthy balance.

I have so many exciting things coming up in 2019 including LOTS of travel and cannot wait to take you all along with me! Thank you for making 2018 one of the best years yet!

xoxo

Summer Date Night Outfit & A Sweet Treat

Hello & Happy Wednesday Friends!

Today I’m sharing one of my favorite tops I purchased recently at Target. It was one of those “see it need it” type of tops and instantly made its way into my cart.

I absolutely love palm prints during Summer! But, as you all know, I’m also a neutral lover. Big bright colors aren’t usually my thing. So, I love that this top is a bit more muted and the colors aren’t too bright. The pink is the perfect shade to compliment most every skin tone, even if you’re not super tan. The peplum cut is also extremely flattering and perfect for wearing out to dinner (when you know you’ll have to hide the inevitable food baby – lol!). I did wear a strapless bra with mine, but it is lined up top so you could get away with not wearing one! In terms of size, I went with a XS and feel it fits TTS. It definitely works for petites and regulars! And, it’s only $20, so you can’t beat the price 🙌.

I styled this top with my fave white denim skinnies and these $30 heels for a perfect summer date night outfit. It also comes with a matching skirt that would make another cute date night outfit as well. My round Coconut Lane Melbourne from Brahmin is perfect for this look, but this straw bag in this post would also go really well too (and it’s under $70!). Also, I opted to keep my neckline clean to play up these $13 statement earrings I’ve been loving. I’m a bit obsessed with statement earrings right now and plan to do a roundup of them in a few weeks!

If you’re looking for a way to dress this top down, it would look super cute with denim shorts or white denim shorts too. You could also pair it with flats (like these or these) to make it more casual.

A few updates – Summer is in full swing and life is BUSY. I recently took a few days off of blogging completely. I did this a few weeks back but didn’t really let myself off the hook as in I was still checking emails, engaging/networking with others etc. Can’t say this is unusual, I’d like to thank my parents for my workaholic nature (lol!) 😋. But, I was able to truly disconnect thanks to the no-service we had in our campsite over the weekend. It gave me time to get a bigger picture view of my blog again and realign myself with some goals I had lost track of.

So, you may notice some changes in the coming weeks – I may not always do 3 blog posts a week as I take that time to instead make some changes and updates to my site as well as work on new marketing techniques. Although I have plenty of content now planned to fill 3 posts a week so we’ll see – may not be able to help myself! I also am changing how I edit photos. This is something I’ve been wanting to change for quite some time but couldn’t figure out an editing style that I felt was distinctly me. After playing with Lightroom for the last 2 days, I’ve finally found a solid way of editing that I think represents my brand the way I want. Which makes me SO excited to edit photos again (something I had kind of lost the spark of recently).

Lastly, I shared a video of some cinnamon sugar muffins I made last night on my Instagram stories and had SO many messages asking for the recipe! SO, I though it’d be easiest for me to share it here for you! I adapted this recipe from Delicious As It Looks . Just a little background – I am currently doing a low-fodmap diet to see what food sensitivities I have. So, this recipe is gluten & dairy free!

Originally Recipe from Delicious As It Looks HERE

Donut Muffins
makes 24 mini muffins OR 9 big muffins

Ingredients

1/4 cup unsalted butter (I used the Earth Balance Vegan Butter)
1 1/4 cup brown rice flour

1/4 cup tapioca flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons lactose-free milk

1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Generously coat muffin pans with cooking spray.
  2. Melt 1/4 cup butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Measure the flour by lightly spooning into the measuring cup and then leveling off with the back of a knife. In a large bowl, combine the flour blend, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. Add the egg, milk and the 1/4 cup melted butter and stir until smooth.
  4. Fill each muffin cup about half full.
  5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  6. While muffins are baking, melt the remaining 1/4 cup butter in the same saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and set aside. Combine the remaining 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  7. While muffins are still hot, gently remove from pans using a knife to assist. Briefly dip each muffin into the butter and then immediately roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place on a plate to cool. Serve.

Happy Baking & Shopping!

xoxo
