Punta Cana Outfit Round Up + Vacay Recap

Punta Cana Outfit Roundup + Vacay Recap! Style Blogger Lauren Meyer shares an Punta Cana Outfit Roundup + Vacay Recap!

Hello & Happy Friday friends!

Sharing a HUGE roundup from Punta Cana today! Can we just go back?! At least the temps in Minnie are nearing 50, and I’m flying out to ATX in the morning so, can’t complain 😉

I’ve had several common DMs over the last two weeks. Like I mentioned in Wednesday’s post, our WiFi at the resort was not meant for a busy blogger bee like me and, combined with Instagram/Facebook’s blackout on Wednesday, I am just now making a dent in the DMs about Punta Cana! Lots of questions about our resort, our excursion and what I did to prep! Hoping to answer lots of those today!

We stayed at the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar and booked through Apple Vacations. Ambar is a small resort within a huge complex of maybe 5-6 other Bahia Principe resorts. Ambar is the most updated (renovations finished Nov 2018) and is adults only! We explored the other resorts pretty extensively, and I’m happy we stayed in Ambar. Overall better vibes, food, and drinks! The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. We loved all of the food especially the steakhouse – M.E.A.T. I heard the Italian is good too! We also loved the all inclusive coffee shop on site. They did offer nightly shows at the main resort (Bavaro), but we typically hung out at the Sports Bar in Ambar and chatted with a few other couples we met!

If you’ve stayed at an all-inclusive or done a beach vacay before, you know they’re pretty low key. We basically got coffee every morning, were on the beach by mid-morning and then ate at the beach-side lunch buffet. So good! I think we had guacamole with every meal lol! Then spent the later afternoons at the pool bar before heading back to the room to shower and head to dinner. One thing I will say is that the a la carte restaurants at the resort fill up FAST. I suggest booking ahead – we only got two reservations the entire week!

We also did an excursion day – Janillo VIP – with Scape Park tours! We booked this through our Apple Vacations representative at the resort. Side note – I can’t speak for everyone, but we have had great experiences booking through Apple. They arrange airport transports to the resorts and have representatives on site to help you while you’re there with things like excursions and airport pick ups.

In terms of the excursion with Scape Park, we snorkled, drank on a sandbar, ate lunch on Janillo beach and then jumped in el Hoyo Azul – a giant cenote! In case you missed it, I did save the video of me jumping into the 50 ft deep hole of ice cold water to my Punta Cana highlights on Instagram. It was so scary, but so fun! Definitely a bucket list moment!

In terms of prep for the trip, I started it off with getting a wax at Waxing the City. I love that place and have been several times! If you haven’t gotten a wax before a beach vacation, you have not lived! I started a few years back, and it is life changing. Last year I added on a leg wax in addition to my standard bikini in prep for our trip to Sanibel. I didn’t have to shave my legs for 3 weeks let alone the time we were actually in warm weather! Life Changing. This time I added on underarms in addition to legs and bikini. My skin stayed smooth the entire vacation! Waxing the City locations are independently owned but are nationwide. Highly recommend checking them out if you have a vacay coming up!

I wrapped up my prep by getting a spray tan at The Glow Lounge, which is a local chain in the Cities. The gals there are SO nice! I have friends who get their spray tans done there regularly so I knew they did a good job. But, I am so impressed at how mine turned out! It’s the perfect golden brown color and looks very natural, even on my hands (you’ll know that’s not always the case if you watch my Instagram stories, haha!).

I used to go to a tanning bed to get a “base tan” before going to a tropical location and, I’ll be honest, I don’t think a base tan does ANYTHING. I still burned! Now I just get my spray tan, bring along these tanning drops to mix in with lotion once the tan starts wearing away (around day 7-8 if going in water) and apply SPF 50 like it’s my job. Skin cancer and early aging are not cute ladies!

Now on to the outfits! As always, I’m rounding up the links + sizes to every outfit from Punta Cana shared on Instagram! Most of the items below are from American Eagle, Amazon, Shopbop and, of course, Loft! Also sharing a few sales at the end for the holiday weekend and February/Punta Cana top sellers (since we didn’t get to that yet!).

FEBRUARY TOP SELLERS

1. This sweater from Amazon was the top seller for February! I love this one! It comes in 2 other colors and works for sizes XS-XL and petite – tall gals!

2. These AE jeans were the top 2 seller for February. I basically live in these jeans. They are SO comfy and flattering! I did get the regular length because they’re cropped & they fit TTS. They’re also on sale right now!

3. These sneakers from DSW were the 3rd bestseller. Another item I essentially live in. They feel like you’re walking on clouds and are under $50, need I say more? I also picked up this leopard pair (wore them on both travel days) from the same brand last week. Size down .5 in both!

PUNTA CANA BEST SELLERS

  1. This coverup from Amazon was the top seller from Punta Cana! I mean, it’s no surprised, I basically wore it to death while I was there. LOL. It’s such a good find and easily transitions from the beach to lunch like I did with this look.
  2. Another Amazon find – this swimsuit was the second top seller. This suit looks good on so many body types! The reviews show several women who are more busty looking fabulous in it and a few of you who are different sizes sent me photos in it looking amazing too! And, it’s under $30! I’m wearing the S.
  3. These shoes from Target came in third. Definitely my most worn pair down in PC. I wore them to the beach and pool. Even got them wet with no damage! And, they’re a great designer dupe!

50+ Pieces to Create the Best Spring Break Outfits

50+ Pieces to Create the Best Spring Break Outfits & Resort Wear ;

SO excited to be sharing the items I picked up for our trip to Punta Cana with you all today! I’ve gotten quite a few messages requesting a round up of all the items I’m bringing. Sounds like a ton of you are planning trips of your own! Most items below are under $50-75, and the few that are over are definitely staple pieces, like my Miller sandals.

Disclaimer because there are over 50 items below (lol). I already owned some of these items, and I purchased more than I plan to take for a few reasons. One, I’m betting that some won’t fit when I do my Spring Break try on tomorrow and will have to be returned. Two, I head to Austin, TX a week after I get back so plan to bring some of what’s below on that trip too! Given the trips are so close, I had to shop for both at the same time.

I did also pick up a new set of luggage from Calpak that’s currently on sale! I plan to do a full blog post on how I pack my carry on, which will include more info. But since the brand is part of the Shopbop sale, I’m giving you guys a quick heads up now!

What I Bought For Our Beach Vacation

Fashion and Lifestyle Blogger Lo Meyer, What I Bought For Our Beach Vacation, What to Bring On a Beach Vacation

Happy Friday Everyone! I moved some items around this week and ended up having this Friday blog post open! Luckily enough, I just wrapped up a majority of my shopping for our upcoming vacation to Sanibel Island next month. I took an Instagram poll and most of you voted to see what I bought! Here are the products I got and those that I recommend buying for your best Spring vacation! These products are sure to last you well into Summer to get the most out of your buy!

Side note, in my last post, I mentioned that I spend under $200/month on items for the blog. To be honest, it’s usually under $150. This month was obviously an outlier due to an upcoming vacation; however, most of these items I’ll wear into Summer thus saving money in later months. Just so we’re not confused! 😉

SWIMSUITS

I got two new suits for this vacay. Lately, I’ve been really loving one pieces because they provide more coverage from the sun, and feel like more of a fashion statement than bikinis! Skin cancer “runs” in my family in the sense that we’re all naturally fair skinned. The more I can cover up now to avoid that (and early aging) I do! For this vacay, I got two new suits. This $39 one-piece from AdoreMe that actually looks very similar to one by Becca but is 1/4 of the cost. AdoreMe has the cutest swimwear, sleepwear and lingerie for super good prices. I also picked up these high-waisted bottoms (on sale for $19! ) from Old Navy and this bikini top from ASOS.

I’m also including this coverup I purchased from ASOS. It comes in both regular, petite and tall sizes which is awesome! I bought my usual size in petite and it fits perfectly! It’s very flattering on, and I have this idea that I could layer a slip dress underneath it to wear it off the beach…

CLOTHING

When buying clothing items for the trip, I wanted to buy pieces I knew I would wear into the Summer. These would be pieces that are beach and streetwear appropriate.

This thermal from Urban Outfitters is one of my favorite purchases! It’s perfect for transition weather and will look super cute with white or denim shorts. I’ll likely layer it over a cami or bralette like this one. But, it would also look great layered over a swimsuit. It comes in 8 colors and is an oversized fit.

I know I will be wearing this cami and this tie top from Free People all summer. I love the “orange coast” color! I’ll layer a bralette underneath since it’s lower cut on the sides. I had a hard time picking a color for both of these so do not be surprised if you see these tops come up in different colors throughout the next 7 months!

This washed black denim skirt from Asos is another favorite purchase. It comes in regular, petite and tall sizes (FYI ASOS frequently has all sizes!). I love the dark wash to it and think it’ll look great worn into Fall as well. I’ll likely style this one with a knotted tee and wedges or flat sandals. Also, in case you haven’t heard of ASOS, I first discovered it while studying abroad. They have great affordable clothing that has a similar quality and style to H&M. They ship worldwide (for free!) and have free returns.

Lastly, I’m really excited to get these white shorts from Vestique in the mail. I got a denim pair similar to these from Vestique last summer and they were, by far, the clothing item I received the most comments on from my followers. Incredibly comfortable and right on budget at $38, I know I’ll wear these white ones constantly this summer! They are a little big in the waist so size down! (I wear an XS and typically wear size 0)

SHOES & BAGS

THESE SHOES OH MY GOD!! As I’ve said before,  shoes are really the way to my heart. And these ones are what my dreams are made of. This brand also makes my favorite booties (recognize these?!) so I know they’ll be super comfortable and fit TTS. To be honest, I had a hard time deciding between the blush color and the yellow color. We all know I’m a neutral lover, but there was something about these yellow ones that just called to me so I went out on a limb and got the yellow ones! It’s hard to contain my excitement!

This bag from ShowPo is one of the best dupes I’ve seen. The bamboo bag you see every blogger have starts at $120+ but this little guy is just over $65. If you’re like me, you’re thinking how in the heck a bag like this could be practical. But after reading a few blog posts and stalking a few bloggers who used it (lol, just being honest), I realized it’s actually hard to see the contents inside the bag. Weird, right? Either way, this is the type of bag that just makes you feel chic when you have it. It’s perfect for summer weddings and those days at the beach!

BEAUTY

I plan to a do a more thorough post on products for the beach so am just keeping this one short and simple for now! I picked up a bottle of this spray sunscreen which acts like a makeup setting spray and sunscreen at the same time! Genius!

RUNNERS-UP

And, if I had endless amounts of money, here is everything else I would buy…
