Happy Monday everyone!

I don’t know about you, but it’s always bugged me how impractical the off the shoulder trend is for working women. Don’t get me wrong, my old corporate office had a very lax dress code. I still wore off the shoulder tops but trying to type without the shoulders sliding up was quite the feat. And, in most offices, bearing your shoulders is simply out of the question.  I know this is an issue my sister faces with buying tops like this. Why buy something that you can really only wear 2 days out of the week at most?

So, when Loft included this dress in their Spring line, I knew I had to grab it! This beauty can be worn both on and off the shoulder and hits right above the knee, which makes it perfect to wear to work and on the weekends. And, because it’s long-sleeved, it’s perfect for those transition days we’re currently experiencing. Or, on days like today when it’s snowing outside (lol, hi Spring), you can easily wear it on the shoulder and layer it under a cute Spring cardigan like this one.

To make this outfit perfect for transition weather, I paired it with over the knee boots. If you’re looking for other ways to style skirts or dresses for transition weather, be sure to read this post I wrote last Fall! You could also wear this dress with booties, like many I listed in this post, or a pair of nude heels. This dress is casual enough to easily wear with your favorite pair of flat sandals for when the weather does warm up! It’s dark enough to wear with both dark and light shoes!

Besides the versatility of this dress, I love that it is feminine without being overly obnoxious. The navy floral pattern is muted enough to not be too “in your face”. And, the ruffles add a femininity that’s not too over the top. If you’re looking to try out the ruffle trend but aren’t sure if you can “rock it”, this dress would be the perfect way to try it out!

One tip though – make sure you double knot the waist tie! I did not, and it did slip down rather easily.

Some technical details – this dress comes in regular, tall and petite sizes (woot!!). I’m wearing my typical SP, and it does run true to size (TTS). It’s currently on sale for under $65. And, given this is 2 dresses in one, that really means you’re getting two dresses for under $65! Loft does offer in-store pick up so if you’re looking for an Easter dress, this would be perfect. And with expedited shipping or in-store pick up, you’d get it before Sunday!

If you’re looking for other Easter dress ideas, be sure to read my spring dress post! I rounded up 30+ dresses under $60!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!! Did you catch my post from Saturday? I’m answering all of the questions I’ve gotten recently about how to shop my posts and how I make commission from my blog! Be sure to read it if you wish to support this blog and help keep it up and running!! Your support means everything to me so THANK YOU!!

Friday, Kev & I had a date night out and managed to be back home by 8:30 PM (our kind of night! lol!). We mostly lounged on Saturday. Kevin worked on stuff around the apartment, and I worked on the blog! We also started the Netflix documentary Wild Wild Country. Have you seen it? I’ll just say it’s very odd and leave it at that! Yesterday, I met up with Emerson, a fellow style blogger from Classy Clean Chic. We had brunch and then went to The Lynhall (which is super cute!) to see my other blogger friend Taylor from The Styled Press speak about monetization and mingle with other bloggers! Being around so many creative minds is so enlightening and one of the things I love most about this industry!

I hope you all had a great weekend and have a successful start to your week!

Yeah, yeah, so we’re barely in the double digits here in Minnie, but I have crazy spring fever. Who’s with me? Let’s revolt and demand some spring weather!

It’s okay though, we can pretend it’s spring with this outfit. 😉

You may recall this off the shoulder sweater from Nordstrom from an insta-story try-on I did a month or so ago. Back then, I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep it because I thought it was going to be fleecy-soft from the photos online. But, it’s definitely a lighter weight material. I’m actually happy that it’s light-weight because it makes for a perfect transition top from winter to spring. This time of year, it’s too early for me to be investing in only warm-weather clothing. Getting sweaters or tops that could be worn in multiple seasons is usually the way to go. Off the shoulder sweaters make the perfect transition tops because they’re long sleeved while still exposing enough skin to give off warm-weather vibes and keep you cool on the warmer days.

To make this look extra springy, I paired this top with white jeans and neutral boots. You could, however, easily pair this top with denim jeans and booties for another casual look. I can see myself wearing this top with shorts when we’re in Florida next month and wearing it well into spring. It’s also one of those perfect tops to wear indoors in summer when the AC is blasting.

This exact top is $49 and fits true to size (I’m wearing XS). It is running low on sizes so grab it NOW if you want it! They recently restocked a few, but it’s popular so going quickly. Because it is going so fast, I found this one as well as this one (this one comes in petite too!) that are in stock and are super close alternatives at similar prices.

Speaking of our Florida trip, did you notice I added a new Spring Fever tab to my top bar? Yeah, I wasn’t joking when I said I have MAJOR Spring fever right now! lol! In this tab you’ll find a host of items that’ll prep you for your Spring break trip and Summer! Like I told my mom last week, I’m not using our trip as a reason to shop… I promise! 😇

I’ve finally recovered from my migraine last week after having another one both Thursday and Friday night. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on but hoping that that’ll be the end of it for a while! What’s weird is that people with migraines typically get them around the time of the equinoxes/seasonal changes so March is typically a problem month for me. I’m just hoping I’m getting that early and won’t get a bad streak twice in two months!

One last thing, I’ve discussed this at length in my Instagram stories last week, but I have started to use the LIKEtoKNOW.it app to consolidate a ton of my looks, sales info, product collages (like the one for this post!) and try-on hauls. I will still be posting as I usually do this will just be one place where I can consolidate all of the products. If you’re not sure what LIKEtoKNOW.it is PLEASE read this post! And, please read my disclosures for how I make a small commission off products you purchase at NO cost to you!

Next, please download the app (available for FREE on droid and iPhone here). Sign up and search for me (_lomeyer_) in the app then hit “follow”! You’ll instantly have access to all of these items. You can also find them here.

If you have questions please let me know. And, if ever need help or ideas styling a piece, please don’t hesitate to email me at lomeyerblog@gmail.com or message me on Instagram. I check both throughout the day and am happy to help!

Stay tuned for Wednesday’s post where I’ll be styling a super flattering casual dress four ways. I’m super excited for this one because this dress is under $60, is great quality and looks good on any body type (I promise!).

See you Wednesday!

XOXO

3 Key Ingredients to the Perfect Date Night In or Out

Happy Monday everyone! It’s a new week! And let me first apologize for not having any new posts go up last week. As I discussed in my latest post, I was having technical issues with the laptop I brought back to Madison, which was part of the problem. After getting back to Minneapolis, I needed a few days to recoup and have “off”. I haven’t really taken time away from working since starting to blog full time, which I will admit isn’t really healthy. I hit a wall creatively, mentally and physically and was just plain exhausted. So I decided to give myself some days to recharge! As hard as it was, it was much needed. Thank you for understanding!

This past weekend, Kevin and I had two different date days. We try to have a date night or afternoon every weekend, but decided to double up this weekend since I was gone this past week, and he’s traveling for work much of this week. We went to a Christmas market in Saint Paul on Saturday, which was super cute (and super cold!). After we went to dinner at a restaurant in Saint Paul. Yesterday, we spent the afternoon watching our new favorite Netflix show Dark. I highly recommend this show if you’re into the supernatural or if you love Stranger Things/Westworld. It is rather creepy in parts, just to warn you! It’s also in German so you’ll be reading subtitles.

To get the most out of our date nights, I’ve implemented some self-imposed rules so that I can truly enjoy everything in the moment. It’s important to spend dedicated time with those you love especially during this busy time of year when it feels like we’re stretched so thin! And remember, you don’t need a significant other to have a date night. Some of my favorite date nights are with myself (and the cats obviously!). If this last week taught me anything, it’s that it’s SO important to “date yourself” and invest in self-care. You can only properly love others if you love yourself first!

3 Key Ingredients to the Perfect Date Night Out

The Perfect Outfit

I mean this is a fashion blog, so we have to talk about your outfit, right? In my opinion, the perfect date night outfit is one you feel confident in, but one that can accommodate your plans. For me, this always means an outfit that I can eat a lot in without feeling self-conscious in afterwards… lol! This off-the-shoulder, flare-sleeve body suit from Express is perfect for a holiday date night. It’s the right color and is a giving material so doesn’t feel too tight when it’s on. With high wasted jeans like these, this makes the perfect sexy, yet comfortable date night look.

Do something outside the box

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut when you’re planning your date night. Going to the same restaurant or even doing the same routine (dinner + movie; dinner + drinks etc). Lately, Kevin and I have gotten into finding a local activity to do, then going somewhere for an appetizer and then even going somewhere different for dinner. Sure, it’s a lot of moving around. But it also gives us the ability to explore the city and different cuisine, which is important since Kevin is actively trying to expand his palette! On Saturday, we spent the afternoon at the Christmas Market, then went to a bar/restaurant for appetizers. Originally, we were going to head to a different restaurant for dinner but given the dropping temps we stayed where we were, got another beer and our entrees. Having flexibility in your date night makes it more relaxing and allows us to enjoy each other instead of worrying about following “the plan”.

Unplug!

This is important for any type of date night – in, out or with yourself. It’s important to enjoy the company of who you’re with to the fullest extent, which means putting the phone and technology away! This doesn’t mean you can’t take any photos! Just wait to post them until the next day or later. Trust me, no one has ever died because you didn’t post a photo the second it was taken, and you’ll enjoy the day/night much more if you truly experience it in person rather than through your smartphone!

3 Key Ingredients to the Perfect Date Night In

Create relaxing environment

Part of the perfect date night in, whether with your significant other or with yourself, is creating a relaxing environment. Kev and I like to light our favorite candle (we’re addicted to Bath & Body Works scented candles!) or burn our favorite essential oils. We also like to bring out all of our fuzzy blankets and settle in on the couch for a movie or TV show while something cooks in the crock pot. The mix of the candles with the scent of what’s cooking in the crock pot creates a very homey, relaxing feel throughout the apartment!

Play a game or indulge in self-care

If you’re having a date night in with your significant other, pull out your favorite board game! Instead of just watching the TV, Kev & I love to play Scrabble or Monopoly (yes we’ll play just us two!). Playing a game really forces our attention to focus on the two of us and what we’re doing and minimizes distractions from the outside world (like social media or who might be texting!).

If you’re having a date night to yourself, try indulging in some self-care. I know a lot people find having a glass of wine with a warm bath to be the perfect relaxing night. For whatever reason, I’ve always preferred a hot shower with a body scrub to a bath. I personally think the movie What Lies Beneath scarred me when I was little, LOL. I’ll use a shampoo with an amazing scent, like Mermaid No.2 that literally smells like a Caribbean vacation. And I’ll often pair it with a body scrub like this coconut one from Bath and Body Works. I’ll follow up with a face mask and then often paint my nails as I read a good book or watch a chick flick.

Unplug!

Yes, repeating this because it’s even more important to unplug on a date night in since you have ready access to your phone, tablet and computer. To truly relax, turn your phone on airplane mode for an hour so you literally can’t receive texts or calls (they’ll arrive after you turn it off!). This way, you have no excuse to check your phone and can really focus on your date night or on your self-indulgence. Trust me, you’ll never realize how long an hour feels until you go a full hour without checking your phone or computer. It’s the best way to recharge!

How do you spend your date nights? Are there any “rules of thumb” you follow to have the perfect date night in or out?

I hope everyone has a great start to their week!! I’m sharing my last gift guide on Wednesday, so stay tuned!!

xoxo

PS notice anything different about my hair?! I added a few more inches with tape-in extensions while I was home in Madison. I’m loving them so far and plan to do a review in the future, once I wear them a bit longer!

Happy Monday Everyone! You’re probably wondering why I’m posting on a Monday when I’ve gotten into a pretty good schedule of posting Tuesday/Thursday. I’ve been wanting to post more content for quite a while just never had time when I was working my corporate job. When we got settled after moving, I wanted to focus on getting myself into a good routine before I just took on writing new content for three posts a week. Now that I feel like I have more of a grasp on this blogging full-time thing, and with the holidays right around the corner, I feel like I’m at a good place to start writing for you all three times a week!

With that being said, I’ve made some changes to the blog in the last few weeks and more will be coming soon! I’m working with my digital team to revamp the colors and my homepage to better fit my style. I’ve also added a few new pages that I hope you all will enjoy. If you look at the very top bar on the screen, you’ll see there’s a category labeled “shop”. Hover over that, and you’ll have the option of shopping my Instagram, my current favorites under $50 and under $100. I will update this section every 1-2 weeks to make sure you have the most updated content! I’m also thinking about adding a section to shop my Instagram stories… thoughts?

For this post, I really wanted to highlight one of my favorite tops I bought recently and one that would be perfect for Thanksgiving! I know we’re all looking forward to our Thanksgiving food babies, and this top is just the right amount of oversized to make you both comfortable and cute. It comes in three other colors and is only $39. Remember how I mentioned I was trying to add color to my wardrobe? This sweater definitely fits the bill but also comes in black for those neutral lovers. For this look, I paired the sweater with a pair of jeans and these over-the-knee boots that are currently 40% off coming in under $70! This top would also be really cute worn off-the-shoulder or with a skirt and boots.

Here are some other tops/dresses that would make the perfect Thanksgiving outfit –

Also, if you haven’t already, make sure you check out my Instagram giveaway happening right now! I’m giving away a $175 gift card to one of my followers in honor of it being my birthday month and the upcoming holidays! That’s right, you only have to follow me and follow the rules in the post to enter!

The Perfect Neutral Fall Outfit for Any Occasion

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m largely incapable of buying or wearing anything that isn’t a neutral color in fall/winter. I don’t know why, but I used to be this way year-round until I told myself, “enough is enough Lauren, add some color to your wardrobe!” So, I am actually attempting to break that habit and recently bought a few colorful items I plan to share with you all soon. But for now, we can focus on this neutral fall outfit, which incorporates my favorite white skinnies (that are currently on sale for under $40)!

Wearing white pants in the fall and winter is something I’ve always struggled with. It’s not just because of the “no white after Labor Day” rule, but because there seems to be something inherently wrong with wearing white when the night begins at 4:00 PM, and you’re at risk of getting frostbite any time you step outside. Maybe my Southern readers don’t have this mental problem, but it always seems like white is such a bright, summer color that it’s just too cheery for the winter dreariness. I’ve attempted to overcome this mind frame in the last two years, and I’m here to help you do so as well!

An easy way to style white pants in the fall and winter is to keep your look casual by wearing them with an oversized sweater. Any sweater will do, but I prefer to wear a neutral color to create a clean and crisp look. Call it winter camouflage as I just blend in with my snowy surroundings! You can also “live on the edge” and style white pants with a bold rust colored top like I did in this post or take a different approach by wearing a darker top. Pairing white pants with a lacy top like this one would be a very trendy twist on a typical winter outfit.

I recently picked up this sweater from Nordstrom Rack when I was wandering around downtown after lunch with my sister (oops!). I couldn’t pass it up because it’s under $27 and is perfect for fall/winter. The marled grey color goes well with a pair of white pants and tan booties to create that perfect neutral fall outfit. You can also wear it off the shoulder and either way, it’s long enough to be styled with leggings, which makes it easy to dress down. It comes in burgundy if you too want to add some color to your wardrobe!

Now that we’re done unpacking, I’ve been busy cleaning and doing laundry all week since that fell by the wayside the last two weeks. I finally feel like this apartment is our new home just in time for our first visitors this weekend. A good couple friend of ours is visiting on Saturday, and we can’t wait to show them around our new neighborhood! They used to be our neighbors at our old place, and I miss them so much!

Do you have any fun plans this weekend?!

XO,

Lo
