Happy Wednesday Everyone! We managed to survive the blizzard up here on Monday! It took my sister over 2 hours to get home from her work downtown. A commute that usually takes under 45 minutes. Needless to say, I’m done with snow for the year. It’s funny, mid-August I always crave colder weather and “can’t stand” warm weather. Then mid-January I start really disliking the cold/wet weather and need warm weather. Anyone else like this? Grass is always greener I guess!
Today I’m sharing my first Valentine’s look for the upcoming holiday. As I said before, Valentine’s doesn’t have to be a holiday reserved for those with a significant other. Me-dates and Galentine’s are becoming increasingly popular and for good reason! It’s fun just to have a night to pamper yourself or a care-free night out with your girls! In a recent Instagram poll, you all voted yes for both a dressy and casual Valentine’s look. And, if you haven’t noticed, I really take your input into consideration when planning posts because as much as this blog is a creative outlet for me, it’s written for you! So, again, if you ever want to see content please don’t hesitate to message me on social media or at firstname.lastname@example.org (or follow me on the ‘gram & answer one of my many polls lol)!
The style of this Solutions Original dress from Nordstrom Rack is perfect for Valentine’s because it’s both dressy and comfortable. It’s not overly “sexy” so could be worn with your significant other or out with the girls! The tiered sleeves add a nice feminine flair while the pastel pink color is right on point for Valentine’s day. As fate would have it, this exact dress sold out in the time we had this shoot, and I wrote this post 😒 BUT this style and color are super popular right now. So, I’ve linked a ton of similar dresses in the “shop the post” widgets. Such as this dress that’s almost identical (and less expensive!), or this one that’s the same style only in red (and comes in petite sizes too!).
Being that we are nearing a transition season, I’ve selected dresses that will have a lightweight feel so you can wear them in warmer weather. In addition to being lightweight, most of these colors will also work well for both the holiday and springtime. Pastel colors as well as tiered fabrics (like these sleeves) are very on trend for spring so buying anything with either is a safe bet!
When styling this type of dress for V-Day, feel free to change up the accessories you wear to fit with your plans! If you’re doing a date day, consider wearing tall boots and studded earrings with a lightweight jacket and cross body bag. If you’re going on a night out, take out your favorite pair of nude or blush heels, a clutch or cross body and your favorite hoops.
What are your plans for Valentine’s? Kev and I usually cook a more extravagant meal (one year he made stuffed duck!) or have a date-day. If you couldn’t tell by now, we’re not much for staying out late anymore 😋!
On Friday, I’ll be sharing a his & her gift guide for Valentine’s with items all under $50! Stay tuned!
