Back to Basics: Affordable 2018 Fall Capsule Wardrobe

Popular Style Blogger Lauren Meyer of The Lo Meyer Blog shares a 2018 Fall Capsule Wardrobea

The title of this post is “Back to Basics,” but if you frequent this blog you probably know we never left 😉 What can I say? You really can’t go wrong with basic closet staples! That being said, I am SO excited for today’s post! This is a post I’ve been wanting to write for quite some time, and I can’t think of a better season to start it than my 2nd favorite time of year (1st being the Holidays, duh😋). Today, I’m sharing an achievable and affordable 2018 Fall Capsule Wardrobe.

Hold up✋You may be wondering what in the heck a capsule wardrobe is. A capsule wardrobe is a set of pieces that are classic, timeless and that you can wear throughout the seasons. Think – a camel colored trench coat or a cashmere sweater. Items that never go out of style and, more importantly, items that make you feel confident no matter when you wear them. In our world of every-changing trends, it’s always good to have a few go-to pieces you can grab throughout the year.

But, there’s really no better feeling than sprucing up your closet for a new season! Getting new pieces, however, doesn’t have to break the bank. Just because it’s Fall, doesn’t mean you need 10 new cardigans and 8 new crewneck sweaters to get you through. So today, I’ve rounded up a handful of pieces that can be combined for dozens of different outfits to carry you through the next few months (and likely beyond that).

Before we begin, let’s review the Fashion Color Trend Report from Pantone for Fall 2018. Straight from NYFW last Spring (which debuts looks for the following fall), Pantone determined the on trend colors for this Fall. You’ll be seeing a lot of bright reds, lilacs (like this cardigan), teals and olive colors to name a few. However, Pantone also releases their “Classic Color Palette” at the same time. These five core colors are navy, ivory, camel, light gray and toasty brown.

I’ve made this Capsule Wardrobe with both of these color palettes in mind. The base is, as you may have guessed, comprised of the five core colors as those are classics and will never go out of style. And, to spice it up a bit, I’ve incorporated some of the trending colors and prints too! That being said, if you’re creating your own capsule wardrobe for the Fall and Winter, sticking with the classic colors will always be a safe bet.

Moto JacketThis jacket is an investment piece that I highly recommend everyone (man, woman and child) have in their closet! And, it’s the only piece in the Capsule over $100, which means I really think it’s worth getting. It’s a classic style you can wear for every season for almost any occasion. This camel color is perfect for the Fall and will transition nicely into Spring as well! I have this same style jacket in a darker shade and it is, hands down, the most versatile piece in my closet. 100% worth every penny spent!

Black Denim – In my opinion, black denim is a Fall must have. It makes any casual outfit instantly chic and is an easy way to dress up an otherwise casual look. This pair is my favorite with the trendy distressed hem and flattering high waist. I wear a “short” length in this, and it’s the perfect length to wear with fall booties like this pair!

A Blanket Scarf – If anything epitomizes Fall fashion to me, it’s a blanket scarf. This one is under $15 + free prime shipping! It’s big enough to wear as a scarf as pictured but also wear as a wrap around your shoulders!

Taupe Booties – I recently picked up this pair of booties, and I have been wearing them nonstop. I prefer taupe booties over camel because they go with both grey and camel colored clothing! The heel is the perfect height for everyday wear. And, the style is versatile so you’re sure to wear them through the Winter and into Spring. Trust me when I say, these are a shoe you need for the cooler months!

These are just a few ways to style these pieces! There are really endless options. If you need more ideas, always feel free to message me on Instagram or email at !
